Mission Statement
The Cape Breton Feminist Society is a safe, inclusive, and intersectional space dedicated to connection, dialogue, and action.
Founded by Carmella Zahara in 2020 as an online Facebook community, the group was created to bring people together in a time of isolation and to foster meaningful conversations around feminism and social justice. In December 2025, the Society was officially registered as a non-profit organization in Nova Scotia, expanding its commitment to advocacy, education, and community impact.
We strive to empower individuals and communities by promoting gender equity, advocating for human rights, and challenging systems of oppression. Through open and respectful conversations, we address issues such as consent, body positivity, sexual violence, reproductive rights, women’s health, domestic violence, and systemic inequities.
We are committed to fostering a community rooted in respect, education, and collective care - where ALL voices are valued, and everyone has the freedom to learn, share, and grow.
We are proudly intersectional.
We are unapologetically pro-choice!
This is a safe space ♥️
